Only the Lonely

You may know this from, oh, everywhere, maybe. Roy Orbison’s voice elevates schmaltzy material, and his songs have been used all over movies and television to underscore emotional content or, conversely, to lend a touch of the surreal. You may think that since the 80’s it’s gotten a bit tired to always bring out the Orbison as a way of signalling that it’s the early 60’s or that things are about to enter David Lynch territory, but few voices are as recognizable and the man deserves all of the recognition.
