No Horse

The new Dead Weather album has got everyone all excited, but let’s go back and enjoy something from their previous, which I think still stands as their best. They really hit the perfect pitch of guttural, thrashing angst. They can keep banging it out in that vein forever, too, as far as I’m concerned. It’s hard to think of a group who matches their primal energy. Anyone who still thinks of the Dead Weather as a ‘side project’ or not the real deal somehow because its members also do other things hasn’t paid attention. This is musical chemistry that’s very much the real deal.
