One of the great things about living in Austin, Texas is oftentimes you get to discover new artists before the rest of the world does. Max Frost still hasn’t quite broke into the mainstream, but his songs were on the radio here way back in 2012, before the guy had even an EP to his name. An EP did come out the next year, to acclaim. He’s toured with fellow local boy Gary Clark Jr. and now has a full new album out as well. If my instincts are at all right, we’re going to be hearing Frost’s catchy tunes on TV a lot in the coming years. It may sound dismissive to say that these are songs ideal for setting the mood on some hip series about snarky twentysomethings, or a commercial selling hip new products to snarky twentysomethings, but that is a legit measure of success nowadays.
