Mona (I Need You Baby)

I’ve always found this song quite sexy. Not all the way up there in Midnight Rambler territory, but still an early flair of that dark intensity. Maybe it’s slightly creepy and there’s not much going on upstairs, but it thumps and throbs along like a heartbeat. That physicality was always The Rolling Stones’ calling card, the thing that made them scary and exciting. It was their special thing, even when they were still content to record Bo Diddley B-Sides.
