Mixed Emotions

“You’re not the only ship adrift on this ocean.”

Steel Wheels was slightly before my time at its release, but in my youth it was considered a very recent Rolling Stones record. I would call it a latter-day classic, and not just because I grew up with it. Partly because of that, yes, but also it was a big event – big reconciliation, big tour, big hits. But mostly because of really good songs, of course. There’s a lot of them there, and even the by now formulaic hard rockers are better than usual.
