Every family has its own Christmas traditions. In mine, it’s watching The Nightmare Before Christmas. (On a VHS tape that is literally older than my sister, complete with previews for a Mighty Ducks sequel.) It’s a movie that has become a true holiday classic, at least for those of us with a low tolerance for the usual treacly consumerist clusterfuck that is the holiday season. If I can’t spend the holiday with my family, I can still spend it with Jack Skellington (and a glass of red wine, a shot of tequila, five Lone Stars and only a mild case of seasonal depression.) Happy Holidays.
