Remember what I said about Styx just waiting for their big jukebox musical? Well, how can you argue? This song is a made Broadway showstopper. If you think the video is ridiculous, just think of how much more ridiculous it has the potential to be. Styx has very cleverly made the connection that heavy metals are a thing – a vaguely defined group of elements with metallic properties, some of which may be toxic – and heavy metal poisoning is a thing, and Voila! Clever scientific pun. Actually, I think the term is ‘heavy metal pollution’ but I’m no chemist and neither are any of the members of Styx, so I don’t suppose it matters.
