In the UK Sparks are popular enough to play a series of topped out gigs in London, and please their fans with indulgences like playing Kimono My House in full. Lucky Brits. It’s a crumb video but they burn through This Town Ain’t Big Enough…, Talent Is An Asset and Complaints with high energy. I’m proud they’re still touring and recording and as witty as ever. But I do miss the early seventies days. Before they became the best disco-parody act you’ve never heard of they were the best glam-rock-parody act you’ve never heard of. They were better that parody, though. Their songs are very thoughtful and perceptive underneath the jokiness, and they rocked hard as well. I liked them best when they still did guitar solos. Oh well, as long as they’re still out there, the world is as it should be. And, hey, at least Paul McCartney knows who they are!

I heard one of Sparks songs today on an iTunes radio thing.
Can’t believe I’ve gone 18 years without knowing about them!
This page is so insightful : )
