Carmen Kass is by far one of my favorites. I’ve been watching her for over a decade. She’s blossomed into one of the greats, one for the ages. Kass was born in Tallinn, Estonia. She is one of the first supermodels from that corner of the world. She’s set a precedent for other Eastern European beauties, and she defines the modern, global blonde. She’s deceptively willowy, with tiny pointy features and a steely gaze, instantly recognizable as not an American girl. American girls have that corn-fed vacant stare (not all of them, of course, but it is kind of their calling card). What I like about Carmen is her particularly Slavic reserve, the impression of wheels turning. The lights are very definitely on. She’s shown herself to be a person of substance indeed off the runway. She’s politically active in Estonia and her passion for chess has earned her the post of president of the Estonian National Chess League. See more here.
