Of all the cultish and obscure records in my collection, none has been harder to find than Pink Floyd’s More. I have never seen it on cd, tape or vinyl, except in bootleg form. I’ve never heard in mentioned or written about, except in by the deepest of diehards. If I didn’t know about, I wouldn’t know about it. When my little bootleg tape up and died, I had to begin a very rigid search for a replacement. Record stores were out – they only sell Dark Side of the Moon. I looked on Amazon, because if something isn’t on Amazon it must not exist. It exists, all right, but the prices are extortionate. Then I spent weeks browsing torrents, until I finally found one that worked. One thing I did not try is iTunes. Because I hate iTunes. The selection is much worse than Amazon’s, the prices are higher, and the layout is not as user-friendly. I so hate iTunes I went and bought special software so I could sync my iPod with WMP. Anyway…
The album More is actually a soundtrack for an equally obscure film also titled More, made in 1969. More is about attractive college students taking heroin amid the glamorous locales of Ibiza, so it must be thoroughly depressing. I haven’t seen it, but it is available on Netflix for the interested.
